Tipis are a really cool place to celebrate your big day, and they fit in really well with the boho/festival style of wedding. they are a great choice for a relaxed couple who are happy to go with the flow and want to enjoy the day without too much formality.
Harry and Karina contacted me because they wanted a documentary-style photographer to capture all the fun of their wedding, and I was extremely happy to be involved. The couple were married in their local church by a great old priest who had come out of retirement for the ceremony. The rain just about held off long enough for us to take a few group shots outside the church, and then it was on to the reception which was put up by Bettys Tipis. They arranged the whole day, and did a great job, especially given the challenging conditions we faced as a large electrical storm blew over during the wedding breakfast.
Photography can sometimes be quite challenging in a tipi, because of the orange canvas, but I actually didn’t find it to be a problem, and I supply all my images in both colour and black and white anyway, so my couples have the choice which they prefer.
As the evening continued, the party really began, and the packed dancefloor was the centre of the celebrations with lots of drinking and dancing.
I enjoy all the weddings I photograph, but I must say that Harry and Karinas Tipi wedding, was definitely one of the highlights of last year, so if you are considering having your own Tipi Wedding, I would definitely recommend Betty’s tipis, and I would be more than happy to be your photographer.
